Your project will involve the collective effort of various stakeholders, filling a variety of roles with accompanying responsibilities.
Stakeholders can generally be thought of as being one of two types:
- dedicated — team members involved with the day-to-day activities that move the project toward completion are stakeholders with dedicated project roles.
- interested — individuals or organizations whose interests will be affected by the project are stakeholders who have an interest in the project but are not directly involved in project work.
Stakeholders with dedicated project roles include the:
- project manager — The project manager is ultimately responsible for the successful completion of the project. Among a project manager’s responsibilities are planning and managing the activities of the project, leading the project team, and communicating with all stakeholders.
- project team members — The project team members do the work required to complete the project.
